Title: Finalist for INSA Medal for Young Scientists – 1997

Prof. Deshmukh was the finalist (among the last five at the National Level in the Subject of Botany) for the said prestigious Award by Indian National Science Academy (INSA), New Delhi.

At that juncture, none of the Candidates was selected for the INSA Medal that year. Nevertheless, Prof. Deshmukh’s contribution was highly commended by the Selection Committee.

A Technical Cooperation Training Award/ scholarship of the British Government. This involved a 3-month duration,

  • extensive 5-week training at the University of Bradford, England in “Development and planning projects for biodiversity conservation”.
  • traveling workshops to various governmental and non-governmental organizations, University departments, and research institutions involved in biodiversity conservation. In addition, major conservation areas in Scotland, Wales, and England were also studied.
